WELCOME
La Bombi is not just another restaurant. It is, perhaps, one of the most emblematic places in Santander. Perhaps one of the places where you can most enjoy the rich gastronomy of Cantabria as it is; respecting its flavors and, if possible, enhancing them. Perhaps one of the places where it is easiest to encounter the true spirit of Santander life.
La Bombi lives every day the events of the city that welcomes her as if she were another member of that society. As if he had attended the latest success at the Festival Palace, as if he had applauded the last task in the bullring or the last premiere at the theater. La Bombi cannot help but be the protagonist of a very important part of what happens in Santander, because that is what those who have found in its tables and in its cozy atmosphere the perfect place to combine work and friendship, good food and good company want it.
HISTORY
“La Bombilla” Tavern. Puertochico. 1935. Antonio del Ojo and his wife Bernardina Pérez open a modest establishment, very close to the fish market, where fishermen share stories, remember legends and share their fortunes. Just a bar and a corner for wine skins, but a lot of dedication and work. In a short time, the popularity of the place is consolidated. Anchovies in oil or freshly caught sardines are beginning to be a hallmark.
“La Bombi”, the affectionate name that the establishment acquires shortly after, gives an idea of the popularity that it is acquiring and that encourages the couple, with the help of their son Chili, to expand the tavern by acquiring the cellar and the attached stable to serve meals more comfortably.
After Antonio and Bernardina retired, their son Mario and his wife Carmina arrived. Another reform. “La Bombi” Inn. The place is no longer just a fisherman's tavern. The fame of its products and its cuisine makes its clientele grow.
In 1985, Boni Movellán acquired the business. Another story begins that, without completely breaking with the previous, will give “La Bombi” the definitive boost. A challenge begins. A challenge united to Puertochico, Santander, Cantabria. Together with that nature that has provided this land with raw materials of exceptional quality. United with that society that has made the city a unique and special place. And also linked to tradition. You only need people who combine those values, who collect that heritage, who feel passion for this land and its gastronomy. Boni Movellán is one of those people.

Backed by an overflowing enthusiasm, his exceptional knowledge of fish and seafood and his good relationship with Santander society, in a short time he placed “La Bombi” in the place he wanted. The place that gives the quality of the outstanding products provided by the sea that Santander looks at and the land that supports it; fish and seafood from the Cantabrian sea and vegetables, meats and cheeses from the interior. The commitment to top quality guarantees “La Bombi” the preference in the catches of many fishermen and shellfish harvesters and the trust of the best suppliers: cocochas, sea bream, clams, turbot and those anchovies soaked in oil, prepared by the house's staff, who seek perfection.

At La Bombi, maintaining the hallmarks that place us every day among the favorite places of so many people to enjoy a pleasant moment around the table and food, is the main objective. Boni Movellán and his family, with their daily presence, make sure of this.
Raw materials of exceptional quality, fresh products of each season, I treat each client with respect and closeness, and the perseverance of those of us who love this place, of those of us who spend every possible hour there, trying to improve a project that is still as alive as it was 80 years ago.
